I personally used Chuck Smiths guide to open our shop and highly recomend it. Chuck Smiths guide to opening a quilt shop it is the best money you can spend in learning how to operate a quilting business. I still refrence it to this day!

What is it like?

Well, plan on putting many hours in. When my husband and I first started we were easily putting in over 12 hour days for the first 6 months. Not an easy task when you have small children!

Should I do Internet?

Most definately, internet became over 60 percent of our sales. It is very time consuming at first but once you get the hang of it, it is well worth it!

Is now a good time to open a shop?

Well let me say that the recession has hurt our sales by about 15%  and I am sure other shops are suffering too- but all in all fabric is a strong business!
